6. February 2009, Denmark’s first ZERO+ house was completed in Sonderborg and taken into use by a private family of 5. The house is constructed in the passive house standard with own 45 m2 PV cells on the roof. The house has all kind of modern comfort, low energy class appliances, electronics, super efficient high tech controlled HVAC and a geo-heatpump solution. The family has been trained in energy efficient behavior.
The ZERO+ house has become a role model for not only citizens from Sonderborg, but also visitors from abroad, who wants to see the ZEROcarbon house. The house has also been shown on Danish television channels.

A review of energy production and energy consumption after one year, shows that the house during the 12 months period, had a surplus of energy by 27 KWh.

The house became reality by a close cooperation between SIB (local construction company), Grontmij | Carl Bro (consulting engineers), SYD ENERGI (regional utility company), Danfoss and ProjectZero.
