There are many different kinds of projects – focussing on the demonstration of energy savings and CO2 reduction – that can help making ProjectZero’s vision come true. Therefore, it has been of great importance to us from the very beginning to initiate and carry out many different projects. To mention only a few examples, ProjectZero has been involved in several projects in cooperation with local schools, for example when The Danish Society for Nature Conservation’s ‘Climate Caravan’ initiative visited a private school in Sønderborg. Afterwards, we have carried out an energy saving project in cooperation with the 5 schools participating in the ‘Climate Caravan’ in order to demonstrate that energy consumption can be reduced by 20 percent via changes of behavioural patterns and regulations of technical equipment. Furthermore, we have participated in establishing the teaching project House of Science in order to bring science teaching into focus. In addition to the projects mentioned above, ProjectZero has been involved in a broad range of activities. Some examples are mentioned below: - Drawing up an energy policy in cooperation with Sønderborg municipality - Special training on energy management for all Sønderborg’s public service employees. 3½ days of special training for more than 101 employees in total - Several energy efficient building and construction projects, some of which, however, are currently on standby due to various reasons - Analyzing future scenarios – what is Sønderborg going to look like in future - Drawing up a set of rules for building and construction in Sønderborg, according to the ProjectZero vision - Planning the cooperation with Arup Group - Establishing the House of Science project - Developing incentives for citizen participation - 20 percent energy saving project in cooperation with the local schools participating in the ‘climate caravan’ - The ’climate caravan’ visiting the local school Eckersberg Friskole in the autumn of 2007 - Keeping up stakeholder contacts - The political process in connection with the establishment of ProjectZero - Establishing a dialogue with the local building and construction sector – including the local cooperative housing societies - Numerous building projects aiming to reach low energy class 1 as a minimum (year 2015), for example the following: - Fryndesholmhallen (leisure and sports hall) - SIB ZERO+ low energy house – read more here
- Seaside promenade - We have held several conferences and project days, for example - Climate meeting in cooperation with the Danish Ministry of Industry and Commerce - City council conference about a sustainable future for Sønderborg - Energy Road shows in four different local districts - Zero Carbon Cities conference which also three foreign cities participated in - Conference about energy efficient housing
Furthermore, since August 2007 we have been presenting ProjectZero’s visions to the public on countless occasions.
