CO2 is a gas. We produce CO2 through heating and electricity consumption and when we burn petrol and diesel in the engines of our cars.
Furthermore, we increase CO2 emission by buying food and other products which – during their production process – have consumed energy. A part of the CO2 in the earth atmosphere is neutralized by the plants that consume it while growing.
However, the world population is destroying the balance through their massive emission of CO2. Therefore, CO2 is storing up in the earth atmosphere, which leads to the so-called greenhouse effect. There are clear signs indicating that our CO2 emission exceeds the natural limit by far. This is a very serious problem, as the artificially increased greenhouse effect has consequences for the world’s climate. More CO2 leads to higher temperatures, which means that more water is vaporizing from the oceans – the climate is changing.
