Havneselskabet A/S was set up with the aim of creating a new and exciting neighbourhood in Sønderborg – unique to both Denmark and Europe - characterised by outstanding architecture, high quality and sustainability. In specific terms, it will be an entirely neighbourhood, projected to be 1/3 hotels, 1/3 housing and 1/3 commercial properties. The area, GehryHarbour,will generate activity and services for the local community and tourists alike.
The world famous architect Frank Gehry is preparing the master plan of overall architectural and design guidelines and will design the hotel. The GehryHarbour master plan is expected to be ready at the beginning of 2008.
Peter Rathje is CEO of both GehryHarbour and ProjectZero, thereby establishing close and strong ties between the two initiatives.
